One of the country's top lyricists is coming to Stockton.

Born in Brooklyn, Talib Kweli has become established as one of the most-respected artists in hip-hop. His unique delivery and willingness to address social issues have earned him praise in the conscious hip-hop scene.

Kweli also has been called every rapper's favorite rapper, and he was name-dropped by Jay-Z on "The Black Album."

"If skills sold / truth be told / I'd probably be / lyrically / Talib Kweli," Jigga rapped on "Moment of Clarity."

Kweli's show will mark the first performance by a well-known conscious rapper in Stockton since March 2006, when Common played a sold-out show at the Bob Hope Theatre. That concert also was sponsored by ASUoP.
