About Travis Vick
Travis Vick is an 18 year old singer/songwriter currently living in Northern California. He has been studying piano since he was ten, playing guitar and writing songs since the age of thirteen and singing for as long as he can remember. Growing up in the Central Valley, he developed his imagination early, and was greatly influenced by many artists such as The Beatles, Bob Dylan, Sufjan Stevens, Chris Garneau, Guy Clark, Lyle Lovett and Elliott Smith to name a few.
Travis sang and played keyboard and guitar featuring much of his original material in the Central Valley-based band, Fairway. Fairway was nominated for a MAMA (Modesto Area Music Association) award in 2006 & 2007 in the Indie Band category. Travis' solo project won the 2008 MAMA award in the Indie Band category.
Travis' solo EP debut "Player Piano" is a heavy dose of wandering poetics. His warm voice and heartfelt delivery lend to his often dark and personal songs a sense of essence and peculiarity, gained in some measure from his early influences.
Recorded in Sacramento by Craig Long of Paradise Studios. On "The Hedges" Travis' sister Taylor lends her impressive vocals to complete the harmonies.
