About Podesto IMPACT Teen Center
The Podesto IMPACT Teen Center has much to offer local young people, including bowling alleys, a rock climbing wall, video games, computers with Internet access, a basketball court, a multimedia room, pool tables and a stage. Unfortunately, few people have been using it. That's put the $3.6-million facility at the center of a political debate between the city of Stockton, which own it, the Boys and Girls Club of Stockton, which manages it, and the city's Youth Advisory Commission, which is supposed to make recommendations about its operation. Some teens have said they'd go to the center if more events are held there. The concerts and dances that have been held at the facility in the past have been poorly promoted; at times, the city hasn't been aware that the Boys and Girls Club had events slated for the facility. Still, the teen center has the potential to be a major entertainment venue for young people in Stockton.
